Thank you for supporting Your Mother Dances!  Any and all donations are tax deductible through our non-profit umbrella, Bad Soviet Habits.  In Milwaukee, funding for small independent arts groups is limited and as a fairly new entity, YMD is not structured to compete with larger institutions for local grant monies.  We rely solely on private donations and ticket sales to pay our dancers, stage manager, lighting designer, and videographer. Since our Milwaukee debut in May 2006, your donations have helped to make sure that all our company members are paid per performance and have kept us in mostly “black” financial standing. 

As we have put down deeper roots, we have been able to secure a rehearsal space for which we are paying monthly rent. This has given us much more freedom to rehearse on a more family friendly schedule. We also hope to eventually hold a limited schedule of classes as well as host dance, somatic, and choreography workshops. As we build, Luc and I are committed to absorbing this and other necessary costs personally.  However, we do wish to build a broader base of regular support to meet our dancers’ needs.  These include raising their performance pay, paying for rehearsal, and having a bit of extra funding to support guest artists’ traveling expenses.

Thank you so much for continuing to build our level of support.  We will continue to present cutting edge dance art that entertains and challenges as well as being active advocates for all the arts in Milwaukee!
